Solidarity Message from The Workers Party of Ireland to the Communist Party of the Workers of Spain on the Occasion of its 3rd Congress, 14-15-16 November 2025

Dear comrades,

The Workers Party of Ireland sends warm comradely greetings to the Communist Party of the Workers of Spain (PCTE) and to all participants in the 3rd Congress of the PCTE taking place under the slogan “A Party to Struggle Under All the Conditions”. The WPI sends its solidarity and support to the PCTE, recognising the important nature of the deliberations of the Congress on class struggle and the deepening of mass intervention as part of its strategic framework.

Imperialist aggression and the threat of intervention and war remain a reality under capitalism. The expansion of imperialist blocs, imperialist aggression and growing militarisation represent real threats to peace and the peoples of Europe and the world.

The ongoing war in Ukraine, with all its bloody and destructive consequences, continues to fuel dangerous developments for the peoples of Europe and around the world and is a result of the fierce competition of the capitalist powers for the control of markets, raw materials and transport networks of the country. Imperialism’s plan for Palestine is not a “peace deal” but a plan for further subjugation of the Palestinian people. Israel’s murderous, genocidal attacks and the systematic colonisation and usurpation of Palestinian land continue in an ongoing attempt to eliminate the right of the Palestinian people to resist the occupation and undermine the legitimacy of their struggle to regain their political and social rights. The economic, commercial, and financial embargo imposed by the United States against Cuba and the U.S. threats of war against Venezuela demonstrate the continuing imperialist threat in the region.

The growth of fascism and anti-communism which witnesses attacks on communist and workers’ parties, their buildings, media, symbols, monuments and ideology, for example recently in Poland, the Czech Republic and Venezuela, demand the solidarity of our parties with our comrades fighting against this repression.

The increasing activity of the right in Europe, including Ireland, the scapegoating of migrants and racist intolerance and attempts to divide workers must be confronted.

Our Party is deeply concerned by the ongoing aggressive internal and external attempts to undermine Irish neutrality, the expansion of the NATO war machine and the increasing militarisation of the European Union.

Today, across the world, workers desire a society free from misery, exploitation and oppression – a society where the exploitation of labour is ended; where the devastation of the environment is reversed; where poverty and hunger are abolished; where the principles of equality, solidarity and emancipation can only be realised in a socialist state. The false narrative of “social dialogue” articulated by the European Union attempts to disguise the historic conflict between social classes and to pretend that the power relations in capitalist society has changed, that class struggle is redundant and that the problems facing workers can be resolved by a consensus with the exploiting class within the existing social system. We will fight against this stratagem, which is designed to legitimise the existing order and preserve the dominance of the capitalist class.

As we celebrate the 108th anniversary of the Great October Socialist Revolution led by Lenin and the Bolshevik Party, a seismic moment in the history of the world, we remain committed to the centrality of the class struggle under the ideological banner of Marxism-Leninism and will not be diverted from our course by the chimera of bourgeois nationalism, opportunism or social democracy.

The Workers Party of Ireland is committed to strengthening co-operation and active solidarity between our parties, both bilaterally and through our common participation in the ECA and IMCWP. The WPI wishes the PCTE success in its deliberations at this 3rd Congress and in the continuing work of the Party. The WPI believes that the decisions of the Congress will strengthen and consolidate the programmatic platform of the PCTE in providing solutions for the working people of Spain and conveys strong comradely greetings and solidarity to the Congress and to the leadership and cadres of the PCTE.
