Reject Tory call to further impoverish our own citizens to inflict war and destruction on others

The Tory Leader, Kemi Badenoch, is calling on the Prime Minister to cut the welfare budget to finance defence spending because former Prime Minister Kier Starmer promised NATO an added £10 billion towards the next war they are intent on fighting. This demand to cut welfare budget by over £4.1billon is obscene. The plans for cutting welfare spending to increase defence spending requires £3.1billion to be cut by reimposing the two-child benefit and another £1billon by end VAT exemptions on Motability vehicles, among other welfare related benefits.
Once again, we see right wing politicians happy to plunge the most vulnerable people in our society into poverty. The two-child benefit cap was removed as one of the reducing child poverty measures, and constantly picking on those with disabilities is disgraceful. For any politician to advocate that welfare spending should be cut back to fund warfare is beyond the pale. Hysterical cries from politicians in Westminster that the Russians will be breaking down our doors if £10billion is not redirected to the defence budget are nothing more than rhetoric.
The Workers Party does not believe we should be engaging in warfare under any circumstances and it is indefensible that we should want to further impoverish our own citizens to inflict war and destruction on others.
If the Westminster Government is so keen to boost their defence budget, let them raise the money by taxing those multinational companies who make massive profits through wars. The government should be investigating the many tax avoidance schemes that are used by these companies, many of them based across the United Kingdom. There can be no justification for these continuing attacks on, the poor, the elderly, and those with disabilities, while at the same time allowing arms and weapons manufacturers to avoid paying their taxes. This contempt for the working class needs to stop we should be building up our public services not building weapons.
